“Western Wind” is a low-key stunner cowritten and produced by Jepsen’s longtime collaborator, former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij. While she’s written her fair share of songs about yearning for a guy who didn’t deserve her affection—more on that later—she wasn’t feeling quite as empathetic when she wrote that ballad, inspired by a former flame who broke things off because he needed to “go find himself.”
